FacThory, the factory of the future, opens its doors in Genk

FacThory, the new centre of gravity for the smart manufacturing industry at Thor Park in Genk, officially opens its doors today in the presence of Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation and Work Jo Brouns. FacThory is a multi-purpose building with 3,500 m² of production floor, 1,000 m² of lab and testing areas and 3,500 m² of offices for smart manufacturing companies. It is a project by the City of Genk, LRM, KU Leuven, the Flemish Region and POM Limburg, good for an investment of €24 million. The project has received support from the European Regional Development Fund (€5.2 million) and the Innovation and Enterprise Agency (€2.8 million). Phase 1 of FacThory is the first concrete step in the realisation of the overall project, representing an area of 30,000m² aimed at small and large companies from Belgium and abroad.
